The Apprentice · Command OS

New hires ramped in 30 days.
Not 90.

Every contractor faces the same problem: a new tech shows up, gets a 2-hour walkthrough, is handed a truck, and is expected to represent the company to customers in their first week. The result is callbacks, customer complaints, and owners spending hours troubleshooting issues that shouldn't have happened. The Apprentice is an AI mentor built into the crew app that guides new hires through your first 90 days - at their pace, on the job site, without pulling a senior tech off revenue work.

How The Apprentice works

Day one to day ninety.
Built in context.

01

Day 1: the basics, delivered in context

Clock in, photograph the job site, scan receipts, record voice notes, mark jobs complete. Each action comes with a brief in-app guide the first time a new hire does it. No classroom needed.

02

Week 1: customer-facing skills and estimate reading

The Apprentice guides new techs through how to communicate scope changes to customers, how to read an estimate before arriving on site, and how to handle the most common field questions.

03

Month 1: advanced features and your standards

Upsell identification, change order documentation, the company quality checklist. The Apprentice teaches your specific standards - not generic contractor best practices.

04

Callback rate tracked per tech from day one

The system tracks which new hires are completing jobs cleanly vs. generating callbacks. Callback patterns identify training gaps before they compound into customer problems or reputation damage.

Common questions

The Apprentice, answered.

How does The Apprentice know what to teach?

The Apprentice is pre-loaded with industry-standard content for the crew app: how to use every field feature, how to handle common customer situations, how to document work and scope changes. During onboarding, you also configure your company-specific standards: your quality checklist, your communication approach, your pricing logic, and your upsell triggers. The result is a mentor that teaches both how to use Command and how to work the way your company works.

Does The Apprentice replace in-person training?

No - it replaces the repetitive parts. A senior tech still handles the first day introduction and truck walkthrough. What The Apprentice replaces is the 'call me if you have a question' model that generates constant interruptions for experienced staff and leaves gaps for new hires who don't know what to ask. The Apprentice handles the reference questions. Senior techs handle judgment calls.

Can I customize what The Apprentice teaches?

Yes. You configure the company-specific content: your quality checklist items, your communication standards for customer-facing moments, your upsell prompts by job type, and your policy for specific edge cases (how to handle scope disputes, when to escalate to the office). The base curriculum covers Command app usage and general professionalism. Your customization layer covers how you specifically operate.

How is callback rate calculated?

A callback is logged when a customer contacts your company within 30 days of a completed job referencing the same scope of work - a repair that failed, a question about completed work, or a complaint about quality. Command ties each callback to the assigned tech from the original job. Callback rate is expressed as a percentage of completed jobs per tech per time period.

Train once. Scale everywhere.
Without losing the senior techs.
